Hayes tells Charlton players: No expectations for Brighton Cup clash

Charlton Athletic boss Anthony Hayes admits they face Brighton in tomorrow's Carabao Cup clash with little expectations.

The Addicks are a lowly 18th in League One after their 2-1 home defeat by Bristol Rovers yesterday.

Hayes said: “It's not anyone shifting or apportioning blame. We are in this together.

“We win together, we lose together and at the minute too often we are suffering together.

“Wednesday, Premier League opposition, some World Cup players, it should be a fantastic occasion.

“But obviously, with the spirit and the current form we are in, it's going to be a difficult challenge.

“That's our job now, to lift the players, prepare them as best we can.

“Listen, it's a free hit against a very good Premier League side and hopefully it will be an enjoyable night."
