Arsenal have had a bid rejected for young Norwegian defender Havard Nordtveit, FK Haugesund report.

The 16-year-old prospect is already a first-team player for the second division side and has been tipped for a move abroad, although rumoured interest from Manchester United in December was never realised.

"Arsenal made us an offer and we tried to negotiate but didn't manage to reach a deal, so we'll just have to continue the talks", Haugesund board member Ingolf Steensnaes admitted.

"Arsene Wenger is very eager on recruiting Havard before the end of the season", he added.
