Hat-trick hero Lamela lauds Tottenham mentality

Erik Lamela was full of praise for the mindset of the Tottenham team in the wake of Thursday night's Europa League win over Monaco.

Spurs dominated proceedings at White Hart Lane to come away with a 4-1 result courtesy of a first-half hat-trick from the Argentine winger.

The victory meant that Tottenham finished top of their group, prompting positive words from Lamela who despair wanting to revel in his treble heroics, was keen to start focusing on Sunday's home clash with Newcastle United.

"Yes, it's a special moment for me and for the team," he said on SpursTV.

"I think we are doing well. Today we won and we are happy with that.

"The mentality is every day better and better. I think we work a lot to find that so we are happy at the moment but we need to keep working.

"I will enjoy tonight but tomorrow we need to think about Newcastle because we don't have a lot of time to enjoy."

The hat-trick was Lamela's first as a professional and took his season tally to seven from 18 outings in all competitions.
