Hasenhuttl, Gerrard in frame for Rangers job

Sacked Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is being linked with the vacant manager's job at Rangers.

Giovanni van Bronkhorst was relieved of his duties today after a year in charge at Ibrox, despite leading the Scottish side to a Europa League final and winning the national cup last season.

Rangers are nine points behind rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premier League and lost all six matches of their Champions League group stage with a record-worst goal difference.

Hasenhuttl, who was sacked by Saints just two weeks ago and replaced by Luton Town manager Nathan Jones, is an early bookies favourite to succeed him.

Steven Gerrard, sacked by Aston Villa, is also being linked with an Ibrox return.

Gerrard managed Rangers between 2018 and 2021, before leaving Ibrox to take the the hotseat at Villa Park. During his time north of the border, Gerrard won the Scottish Premiership and his team finished runners-up in the Scottish League Cup.
