Hartlepool have bolstered their keeping department with the loan signing of Wigan teenager Lee Nicholls. The 19-year-old, who appeared on the bench for the Premier League side for the first time last January, will stay at Victoria Park for an initial month.

Caretaker-manager Mick Wadsworth said: "We're delighted that Wigan have allowed us to bring Lee in to our squad.

"Gary Walsh knows all about him and how good a young keeper he is, so we're looking forward to working with him during his spell with us."
