Harry Wilson scores twice as Liverpool U23s knock off Odense

Liverpool youngster Harry Wilson scored a brace as the Liverpool U23 side claimed a 2-1 win over Odense in Denmark.

Michael Beale's side were playing the first-team of the Danish Superliga side, who are unbeaten this season.

Wilson scored the opening goal in the game from the penalty spot before doubling the lead when he converted Brooks Lennon's pull-back from inside the six-yard box.

The Danish side pulled one goal back with 15 minutes remaining to set up a nervy finish to the game, but the Reds managed to hold on to their lead and claimed a deserved victory.

Beale told Liverpoolfc.com of the win: "It was an excellent performance against Odense's first team.

"They are unbeaten this season in the Danish Superliga and therefore this is a nice win and a confidence boost for the players after a disappointing game at the weekend against Southampton.

"Overall it has been a fantastic trip and I would like to again thank Hans Moller and his organisation for inviting us to Denmark for the third year running.

"The staff at the hotel and hospitality has been first class and a crowd of nearly 3,000 young Liverpool fans were in attendance. This was a fantastic experience for our young players."
