Harper backs Reading to land West Ham's Mullins

Reading midfielder James Harper is happy he rejected interest from West Ham last summer.

The 26-year-old said: "I had a few offers from Premiership clubs when we won the Championship title. But I could never have left after we'd finally got there ourselves with Reading.

"I'm glad I didn't because last season was great and I want to stay here and be a part of the club's future."

Harper agreed a new deal on Wednesday until summer 2010 and is also backing Reading's pursuit of West Ham midfielder Hayden Mullins.

He added: "Maybe we'll sign someone else. I heard a rumour we want Hayden Mullins and he would be a decent signing if he comes.

"I expect us to make a few more as well but it's never easy and we'll wait and see."
