Hamer praises Huddersfield fans after Chelsea defeat

Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Ben Hamer praised the home fans after defeat to Chelsea.

The Blues were comfortable for the 3-0 result.

But Hamer told HTTV: “One thing I will say is, I thought the fans were fantastic! Even when we went 3-0 down they were still loud and getting behind us; that's something you don't see very often so that's brilliant from them.

“I hope they keep doing that in the home games because it was vitally important for us."

Town's new signing went on to discuss the match, whilst explaining how there's a number of positives to take from the defeat on the opening day.

“I thought until the first goal that we handled them quite well to be honest. I thought we were organised and looked quite solid but then they broke down the left, got a cross into the box and he's hit one into the ground. Unfortunately, it's taken a deflection, which never helps – that was a tough one to take at the time.

“After that we had a great chance, which hit the post, and if that goes in no-one knows what'll happen.

“It's unfortunate that they were clinical and us not so much; that punishes you if you play in the Premier League. If chances come you have to take them and they did that today, unfortunately we've picked up a defeat.

“We've got a big game again on Sunday, so hopefully they come thick and fast and we can get out there again and put things right."
