Hamburg boss Martin Jol is chasing Tottenham fullback Pascal Chimbonda.

Jol bought Chimbonda for £4.5 million in 2006, when he took him to White Hart Lane from Wigan.

The French defender has suffered a love-hate relationship with Spurs fans, trudging disdainfully off the pitch in the Carling Cup Final victory over Chelsea and then missing a penalty in a UEFA Cup shoot-out with PSV Eindhoven.

Spurs will want at least £4m for the versatile defender who can also fill in at centre back.
