Gus Poyet has entered talks with Leganes after Mauricio Pellegrino's departure this weer.
Marca says the Madrid side neither affirmed nor denied that they had began negotiations with Poyet, but the Uruguayan does meet what they are looking for: an ex-player and coach who has experience in LaLiga Santander, having taken charge of Real Betis ahead of the 2016/17 season.
As Leganes are still undergoing their search, B team head coach Luis Cembranos is expected to take charge for the match against Real Mallorca on Saturday.
The reason for Pellegrino's departure was because of Leganes' poor results this season, having thus far failed to record one victory from their opening nine games.
The Argentine wanted one more training session with his players and, following a meeting held with the club where Leganes expressed their confidence for him to continue, despite criticism from the club's sporting director, Pellegrino decided that it was best to walk away.
