Gundogan open to playing out career with Man City: This club more than just football

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan admits he could play out his career with the Premier League leaders.

Gundogan is currently enjoying some of the best form of his career and credits his progress to the environment and atmosphere City have managed to generate in recent years.

The Germany international's contract runs to 2023 and having previously discussed the prospect of returning to the Bundesliga, or even testing himself in Turkey, Gundogan now says he can see himself playing out his days in a Sky Blue City shirt.

Quoted by Fotboll Transfers, he told Sky Deutschland: "I must honestly say that I can imagine it happening. The way they work here, not only athletically, but also in all areas around it, is something I have never seen before in my career.

"I feel that the club is more than just football in itself and it is just a nice feeling to be part of this family.

"I think that during my career I have had phases where I previously played just as well. The way I played football. What has been added this season are of course the goals. The numbers are much better, that is why it stands out even more right now."

Signed from Borussia Dortmund in 2016, Gundogan is already a twice Premier League title winner and has City well placed for a third triumphant campaign. This season, from midfield, Gundogan boasts the stunning stats of 13 goals in 26 appearances, including three assists.

Manchester City currently sit top of the Premier League table, seven points clear and with a game in hand on second place Manchester United.
