Dutch greats Ruud Gullit and Marco van Basten do not believe Chelsea striker Timo Werner is capable of performing at the top level.
Werner has had a sluggish start to the season, as he's been upstaged by Chelsea's £98m summer signing Romelu Lukaku.
And Gullit believes Werner is suffering a confidence crisis.
Quoted by Foot Mercato, the former Chelsea manager said on Ziggo Sport: "I can confirm it. It's almost emotional to see.
"You see he doesn't trust himself. But as a coach you see he's always in the right place.
"If he puts the ball in the net only once… "
But Van Basten insists: “He's just not good enough for the top level."
Despite criticism in some quarters, Werner's season stats last term remain competitive, with manager Thomas Tuchel insisting the striker is a key part of his system. In 52 games, Werner scored 12 goals and produced 15 assists. He has a deal to 2025.
And on the road to Porto and European glory, the 25 year-old Werner enjoyed a major influence on Chelsea's run, scoring four goals in 12 appearances and also producing two assists.
