Former Manchester City striker John Guidetti has jumped to the defence of Victor Lindelof.

Lindelof has battled to impress at Manchester United since his summer arrival from Benfica.

But Celta Vigo striker Guidetti told Expressen: "Yes, I think everything is getting a little bit inflated because it's one of the world's biggest clubs.

"A mistake in the Premier League, yes maybe it is, but everyone can make mistakes. I make a thousand mistakes, I burned open goals against Manchester United so we missed the Europa League final, s*** happens.

"If there is a penalty in a World Cup final, someone will miss, otherwise you should go on forever. I think if you succeed, you must fail too. It's just getting up and being stronger, and I know that Victor does this. He will have a fantastic long career in United and he will be one of the best defenders in the world. I don't doubt that."

Guidetti added: "He is one of my best friends and we talk about everything, but it's usually not about such things. We are there for each other if needed, but at the moment we are both so strong and we are in a good place so there is no danger."
