Guardiola satisfied as Man City take giant step toward Champions League goal

Pep Guardiola was delighted with the way his Manchester City side performed against Steaua Bucharest on Tuesday night.

The Premier League club crushed the Romanians 5-0 at the Arena National in Bucharest in their first leg of their Champions League play-off.

A hat-trick from Sergio Aguero and goals from David Silva and Nolito have City in pole position ahead of the return bout next Wednesday which put a smile on the face of Guardiola.

"We are almost in the Champions League which was our target from the beginning," said the Spaniard.

"It was a great performance and great attitude from the players. We played really, really good, the result is amazing but it's the way we played which means I'm so satisfied. It's a big compliment for these fantastic players.

"All of the managers in the world want to create chances and to concede few, that's what we all want – OK, we are there, so now rest and then focus on Stoke and the second game."
