Guardiola reveals half-time speech to inspire Man City against Atletico Madrid

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was delighted with the way his side worked in the second half against Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish champions put in a spirited second half show at their Wanda Metropolitano stadium on Wednesday.

But City, who were 1-0 up from the first leg, stood firm and escaped with a 0-0 draw to qualify for the semi-finals and face Real Madrid.

And Guardiola has revealed he told his players to 'get ready for the worst' in the second-half against Atleti.

"I didn't expect anything else. We talked about it half time, 'get ready for the worst'," Guardiola said post-game.

"We played Liverpool a few days ago, came here and they were all over us in the second half.

"If we hadn't played the way we played in the first leg we wouldn't be sitting here saying we got through.

"John (Stones) was brilliant. Aymeric (Laporte) as well. A lot of games in our legs, and travel after Liverpool was so demanding.

"Second half we dropped with our intention but at the end we were there and were lucky to go through.

"But it is two games and in general we deserve to go through."
