Guardiola insists Man City still alive despite Spurs defeat

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola insists their Champions League tie with Tottenham is alive after defeat last night.

City now have to overcome a 1-0 deficit at the Etihad after Heung-Min Son scored the only goal of the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

"It's not the best result but not the worst one." Guardiola explained. "You know in this competition when you want to go through into the last stages you have to make these kind of comebacks.

"You don't expect to arrive in a semi-final or quarter-final first leg we are going to win 0-3, that is a reality - it happens to many teams in many situations, but we have another option, another chance and that is the point.

"The second leg will be tough but we know what we have to do: score goals, play as well as possible and we're going to try."

On Sergio Aguero's penalty saved by Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, Guardiola added: "We play to score a goal, unfortunately we couldn't score but we have a second game.

"We'll see what happens now, it looks a little bit more complicated, but every day, every hour that passes we will see it closer, and we are going to push each other and going to try."
