Guardiola admits Man City players lack self-belief

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admits his players lack self-belief against the very elite.

City followed up their five-goal blitz of Liverpool with a win against at Feyenoord, Guardiola's first Champions League away win since taking over.

"Going away in Europe is always so complicated and Feyenoord didn't have one chance," Guardiola said on Friday.

"That is so important in our terms. I'm trying to convince them they are able to do that.

"Last season we weren't able to win many games against the top five or six in the Premier League and we didn't win away in the Champions League. Believe, we can compete. I would like to give that to my players - more than the tactical issues.

"Sometimes in a bad situation maybe we weren't able to overcome the situation. We have to do that with a strong mentality. So when you see the players, you see they have a big enough personality to play in bigger stages."
