Manchester City needed two goals in the final ten minutes before triumphing 2-1 over a resolute Borussia Dortmund who looked to be on course to end City's 20 game unbeaten run at home in Europe following England international Jude Bellingham's early second half header.

City had looked lethargic and subdued and it needed a wonder striker from John Stones to level the scores before former Dortmund star Erling Haaland turned the game on its head with a fantastic athletic finish.

"It was quite similar two years ago. We play against them in quarter finals of the Champions League and needed to score a late winner.

"We were so passive in our transition, not aggressive enough. We struggled, played in the wrong gear until the last 55 minutes when we had to improve if we were to win.

"This is the Champions League which is very unforgiving and they defended really well. But this win would not have happened in the past as we would not have come back but now we have that ability."
