Alessandro Diamanti appears set to join Watford on loan from Chinese Super League club Guangzhou Evergrande.

The Daily Mail is reporting Watford will officially announce the signing of the former West Ham striker on Tuesday after he passing a medical and agreed personal terms in the last 24 hours.

Watford manager Quique Flores said the imminent signing of the 32-year-old former Italian international would give his side a major boost.

"He is the type of player we need, as he can unlock defences," Flores said.
