Growing up on the streets helped me become player I am today - Liverpool defender Clyne

Liverpool right-back Nathaniel Clyne has revealed that growing up on the streets of South London has made him the player that he is today.

The 24-year-old has been one of the standout players for the Reds in his debut season with the club and attributes learning his craft on the rough and tumble Stockwell streets has helped him flourish at the top level.

"I found my way in football playing on the streets and often you end up playing in small, crowded areas which is tough," he said.

"But I think helps you become a better player because you have to play in tight spaces, improves your technique and means you have to play well under pressure."
