Middlesbrough fullback Jonathan Grounds said he is looking to follow in the footsteps of other team-mates who have progressed from the youth set-up into the first team.

"I look at people like David Wheater," the 19-year-old said, "who've done excellent and managed to stake their own claim."

Grounds made a sound debut in Boro's 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Saturday.
