Grimes over the moon after scoring on Swansea debut

Matt Grimes was delighted to have marked his first appearance of the season with a debut goal for Swansea City.

Swansea managed a regulation 3-0 victory over York City in the Capital One Cup second round clash at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night and one of the goalscorers for the Swans was youngster Grimes who joined from Exeter City in January.

The goal was Grimes' first ever for the Swans and the midfielder was understandably delighted with his maiden effort.

Grimes said following the game: "One game, one goal - I am happy with that. I'm really pleased with my first goal for the club. I missed a really good chance earlier in the game and I can't excuse those kind of misses, but I kept plugging away and got my goal.

"I really enjoyed getting some more game time tonight – I haven't played since our pre-season clash with Nottingham Forest, so it has been a while.

"I felt a little rusty - to be honest it was not one of my best performances, but I'm really happy with my first goal for the club and also for us to progress."
