Former Atletico Madrid and Barcelona striker Luis Suarez is signing for Gremio.

Suarez is a free agent after leaving Nacional Montevideo.

"Gremio and Luis Suarez reached a verbal agreement. Now the club's and the player's lawyers are working and, if everything is in accordance with what was discussed, he will sign a contract for two seasons. He will be the highest-paid player in the squad," reported sports journalist Cesar Luis Merlo.

Gremio president Alberto Guerra has also stated: "As president, I have the responsibility to make deals that do not harm the club's cash flow. That is why we need the help of partners who are interested in the negotiations. We are working to have an answer in the next hours."
