Greenwood remains suspended despite being on Man Utd U21 list

Manchester United insist Mason Greenwood is still suspended from duty.

The young English forward has not trained or played for the club since he was arrested on rape allegations.

The 20-year-old is not in their Premier League 25-man squad, but is on the list of Under-21 players who could theoretically play for United if necessary.

However, the Daily Mail states that such an inclusion is only a formality, and that Greenwood will not play for United until there is clarity about his situation in court.

Greenwood is out on bail at present, but it was extended at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court in June.

He was initially arrested for the alleged offense in January, but has not been officially charged or released as yet.

A GMP spokesperson said: "As the outcome of bail reviews does not impact the progression of investigations, Greater Manchester Police will not be providing any further updates in relation to this case until the suspect is charged or released facing no further action."
