Greenwood must sit out season due to Man Utd investigation

Controversial footballer Mason Greenwood won't play for Manchester United this season.

The Red Devils attacker has not played for the club since a police investigation into an alleged rape and assault began over a year ago.

The 21-year-old last played for United on January 22, 2022, and his long wait is set to continue.

Per the Daily Star, United will now conduct an internal probe into the Greenwood affair, since the police have elected not to press charges.

The forward will have a lot to do in order to rebuild his reputation among United supporters.

Manager Erik ten Hag has not commented on the Greenwood situation as yet.

United hope to complete the internal investigation before the end of the season.

But news that it could go on for several more months means Greenwood is not expected to be seen in a United shirt again during the remainder of this campaign.
