Greenwood counting on central Man Utd role

Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood is expected to play in a more central role if the club sign Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils are more confident than ever that they will buy Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

The two clubs are just £4m apart on their valuations after United submitted a second offer of £72m.

Sancho's arrival will have implications for budding youngster Greenwood.

20-year-old Greenwood has spent time playing on the right-wing, where Sancho likes to play.

However, Metro claims United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sees Greenwood's future as a number nine.

Veteran forward Edinson Cavani has been retained for another season and will provide invaluable experience to the precocious Greenwood.

After completing the signing of Sancho, it is expected Solskjaer will turn his attention towards signing a centre-back.

Villarreal's Pau Torres and Real Madrid star Raphael Varane are the two main targets.
