Grayson can see Liverpool recalling Elliott from Blackburn: But they shouldn't

Former Blackburn Rovers player Simon Grayson says Ewood Park is the best place for Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott.

The 17-year-old talent arrived at Ewood with a glowing reputation from Kirkby and the forward has certainly not disappointed as we approach the halfway stage of the Championship campaign.

But with mounting injury concerns for Jurgen Klopp's side, there were concerns from Rovers' behalf of a potential recall but both Mowbray and Liverpool have moved to calm those fears.

Grayson wrote in his Football League Paper column: “I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Blackburn's Harvey Elliott recalled by Liverpool.

“He's a cut above the Championship and I'm sure Premier League clubs have contacted the Reds about a loan.

“I wouldn't advise it, though. Harvey's playing every week, working under two great coaches in Tony Mowbray and Mark Venus. For him to play another 15-20 games at the age of 17 will do his development the world of good.

“Midway through a season, you're probably better off staying put and enhancing your reputation than risk sitting on a bench for six months."
