Grant reveals Portsmouth players offered to take wage-cuts

Portsmouth boss Avram Grant has revealed how some players offered to take wage-cuts to keep the club running.

Grant will meet with his squad this morning to discuss the possibility of players talking a pay cut in order to save the jobs of some of the backroom staff.

And the Israeli tactician says certain Pompey players have already approached him to say they are willing to make the sacrifice.

"Two of my players came to me and suggested taking a reduction in wages to try and help some of the people, as we all feel great sadness at what is happening at this club," he said in The Guardian.

"I need to understand the situation clearly first, know exactly what's happening at the club now.

"But once I do we will have a meeting to discuss how we can help."
