Portsmouth boss Avram Grant admits they need to buy in January to cover their African Nations Cup absentees.

Grant admitted his intention to improve the squad when the transfer window reopens in the new year.

Grant said: "I think the squad is good enough (to survive).

"But we need players who can improve us, especially as the African Cup of Nations means some will be out for a month."
