Granovskaia driving Chelsea contract talks with Courtois

Chelsea do not want to lose goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in the summer. Courtois is starring on-loan with Atletico Madrid this season.

The London Evening Standard says Chelsea have stepped up their bid to convince Courtois to sign a new contract and have met with his representatives for more talks over his future at Stamford Bridge.

It is understood owner Roman Abramovich's senior adviser and executive board member Marina Granovskaia is now overseeing the matter personally.

While a source confirmed talks were "going slowly", it is believed that Chelsea are telling Courtois that he will get the opportunity to battle it out with Petr Cech for the No1 jersey next season.
