Granada cruise to victory over Athletic Bilbao

Granada finished last season thrashing Athletic Bilbao and they have started the new season in the same way.

After winning 4-0 at home to Gaizka Garitano's side on the final day of last season, they this time won 2-0 against the Basques to go into next Thursday's Europa League qualifier full of confidence.

After a Yangel Herrera header was ruled out at the end of the first half for a foul by German Sanchez, Herrera did then score the opening goal of the LaLiga Santander season just after the break when he headed in an Angel Montoro cross in the 49th minute.

Just four minutes after that, the Andalusian side made it 2-0 when summer signing Luis Milla fired a shot in off the post from the edge of the area.

Inaki Williams came off the bench for Athletic Club as the visitors looked to get back into the match and the forward did hit the woodwork, but Granada were very comfortable after the second half cooling break as they nursed their lead to the full time whistle.
