New York Red Bulls star Bradley Wright-Phillips will miss the second leg of the 2014 MLS Eastern Conference final.
The English striker, who scored 27 goals in the regular season, received a yellow card in the 2-1 first leg loss to New England Revolution on Sunday.
Wright-Phillips had scored his fourth goal of the play-offs in the 27th minute at Red Bull Arena to cancel out Teal Bunbury's earlier opener but was later booked for attempting to impede Revs keeper Bobby Shuttleworth in the 60th minute.
The caution was added to the yellow card Wright-Phillips received in the Conference semi-final against DC United and will force him out of the return bout with the Revs next weekend much to his dismay.
"I didn't know the rules of the yellow card accumulation," said Wright-Phillips.
"I'm angry, obviously. I'm angry. Stupid yellow card and now I have to pay."
