Gold Coast United's Traore joins Melbourne Victory

Official release from Melbourne Victory FC

Melbourne Victory today announces that Gold Coast United defender, Adama Traore, has signed a two-year deal with the club.

Traore has made 56 appearances for the Queensland team, scoring 3 goals, and has proven to be one of the most exciting young players in the competition since moving to the Hyundai A-League ahead of the 2009/10 season.

The 22 year-old said, "I'm excited to be moving to Melbourne Victory and look forward to taking the next step in my football career.

"I'm very grateful to everyone at Gold Coast United and have made some good friends through some tough times, but I felt this opportunity was the right move for me.

"Melbourne Victory's fans are the best in the country and the facilities at AAMI Park are amazing, so I can't wait to get down there for pre-season training," Traore added.

Melbourne Victory Coach, Jim Magilton, is eager to see the Ivorian in action, "Adama is someone who caught my eye the very first time I saw him play.

"He's a very quick left-sided player and while he's a noted defender, he's also a handful going forward and has scored some nice goals so I expect him to be a real asset to the team," Magilton added.
