Gold Coast United announce new major sponsor

With the 2010/11 Hyundai A-League season now up and running, Queensland Nickel (QN) and Gold Coast United FC have today announced a new major sponsorship agreement for the season.

QN's front of shirt sponsorship of the Gold Coast United team will provide the company with high profile brand exposure during every game this season in both Australia and internationally through the television broadcast of Hyundai A-League games.

With its global headquarters being established on the Gold Coast, QN's involvement with Gold Coast United demonstrates a significant commitment to investing in the community and development of the game locally and internationally.

The sponsorship is part of QN's long-term interests in Australia, Asia and the Pacific. QN also recently supported United's two games in New Caledonia.

QN Chief Operating Officer, Mr Neil Meadows, said the football sponsorship provides a national and international opportunity to strongly promote brand awareness to customers, suppliers and the local and international community.

"QN is a major nickel manufacturer that has been exporting to Asia and the world for 35 years," Mr Meadows said.

He continued: "QN has long established business and trading relationships in Asia. Football is the world game and we believe that sport, through football, offers an exceptional opportunity to enhance our brand and further build business relationships and long term customer friendships.

"QN has ambitious growth plans and a strong appetite to profitably grow our business in Australia and internationally. Our growth aspirations continue to sit well with the fast growing sport of football and with the emerging success of the Hyundai A-League.

"We are also confident that this sponsorship will link well with our recent investment in junior sport in Townsville." he added.

Gold Coast United FC CEO, Mr Clive Mensink, said the QN sponsorship was an ideal fit for the club and a tremendous boost to the players on the cusp of a new season.

"We share QN's aspirations and are thrilled to have the opportunity to have a major partner of this calibre," Mr Mensink said.
