Gold Coast United striker has extended his lead on top of the A-League goalscoring table.
The reigning A-League Player of the Year and Golden Boot winner netted a double against Sydney FC on Saturday to go to 8 goals from the opening five rounds.
Melbourne Victory's Archie Thompson netted his third in three games whilst North Queensland Fury marquee man Robbie Fowler also was on the scoresheet.
However, it seems as though Smeltz has one hand on the leading goalscorer trophy, even at this early stage of the season.
