David Gold has again declared he wanted to stay at Birmingham City under Carsen Yeung's new regime.
The changeover period has descended into bitterness with the police and fraud squad due at St Andrews today to probe Premier League City's books.
But Gold told the Mirror: "I did want to stay on but that didn't materialise, which was very disappointing.
"I do still wish them well and once they have investigated they will find everything in order. These are accusations against us which we feel are inappropriate and unreasonable.
"We are confident that they will spend all this money to find that there is no issue.
"We took legal advice at every step, from lawyers, accountants and the takeover board."
