Go-karting day got West Brom back on track - Fletcher

West Bromwich Albion captain Darren Fletcher has revealed that a go-karting day last week helped the team return to winning form.

The Baggies were beaten twice by West Midlands rivals Aston Villa last week but put those disappointments to the side by defeating Stoke City 1-0 at home on Saturday.

Brown Ideye's 19th-minute header did the damage for Albion who got together for a morale-boosting go-karting session as their build-up to the vital contest.

"We organised a go-karting trip and went as a team," said Fletcher.

"We were just trying to lift spirits because it was hard losing the two games to Villa, especially the cup tie. I felt the lads were really flat, a few others also felt the same way.

"So we thought go-karting was a good idea. But it wasn't the time to be showing the world what we were doing in the circumstances, therefore we kept it quiet.

"We all had a great time and it certainly did the trick. Small things like this definitely help, so maybe we'll go go-karting again this week!"
