Former England coach Glenn Hoddle has undergone triple bypass heart surgery.

The former Tottenham , Chelsea and England player, who led the Three Lions to the 1998 World Cup as manager, is said to have had surgery this week, according to The Sun.

Doctors are optimistic he will be able to return to punditry after the procedure.

A source close to Hoddle said last night: “We were told on Wednesday the operation was due to take place on Thursday or Friday this week."
