Gladbach worried Masuaku spit shame could wreck Oxford plans

Borussia Monchengladbach are sweating on a deal for West Ham defender Reece Oxford.

Gladbach chief Max Eberl had been confident at the beginning of the week of re-signing Oxford on-loan to the end of this season.

"We have worked intensively on his return and are in good spirits," he said on Monday.

But West Ham fullback Arthur Masuaku's dismissal for spitting on the weekend is threatening the deal. Slapped with a six-match ban, it could mean Oxford staying as cover.

BILD says Eberl remains confident, but it could go to the wire today over whether Oxford returns to Gladbach before the deadline falls.
