Gladbach midfielder Lars Stindl: Man City deserved victory

Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Lars Stindl admits Manchester City were too strong for their victory last night.

City were comfortable 2-0 winners for the first-leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.

Stindl said: "A little bit of everything hit us. Of course, Manchester City are an exceptional team, and we defended ourselves against their attacks with extreme passion. We worked better without the ball, but with their control we were not persistent enough and made too many mistakes in ordinary situations. Some half-chances arose only at the very end.

"We ran away a lot today, but we must admit the defeat deserved. We did not find the right solutions when the opponent gave a chance to catch up. At the same time, creating chances at the goal of Manchester City is even more difficult than we thought."
