Borussia Monchengladbach coach Marco Rose has announced the signing of Inter Milan wing-back Valentino Lazaro.

The Austria international spent part of last season on-loan with Newcastle United.

However, instead of exploring the prospect of staying on Tyneside, Lazaro has just passed a medical at Gladbach.

While the season-long loan is yet to be confirmed, Rose admits a deal is all but closed: “He is characterised by football quality, he recognises spaces, has a high level of dynamism, scores goals, can defend.

"There are few positions that I would not trust him in. With the exception of the central defender, we can cover everything with him."
