Borussia Monchengladbach chief Max Eberl is keeping the door open to Andreas Christensen staying next season.
The Dane is due to return to parent club Chelsea this summer after two years on-loan with Gladbach.
However, speaking with Sport1, Eberl argued: "Andreas and his father really have a great interest in continuing to work at Gladbach.
"Andreas has now played almost 100 games at the top level against the top strikers in the world. Why should he go back to Chelsea and then only play against Bournemouth and Crystal Palace and leave the decisive games to David Luiz and Gary Cahill?
"This question is also posed by Andreas. Perhaps there is again a chance. I see a small chance here."
