Given concedes Man City players struggling with Mancini methods

Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given admits the players are still struggling to adjust to manager Roberto Mancini's training methods.

The Irishman concedes the players aren't used to being bombarded with so many sessions devoted to tactics.

"Every manager is different and Roberto is very thorough in the sense that he does a lot of tactical stuff and a lot of the players maybe aren't used to it," the goalkeeper said.

"In the past, we maybe did it once or twice a week, but he [Mancini] wants to do it every single day.

"It's called shadow play. He shifts the ball around and shows us where he wants the players to be. It's to get a defensive shape. We do it without opposition sometimes.

"It's possibly a case of getting used to it. He's brought in the zonal- marking thing as well when we are defending corners and set-pieces and it takes time to get used to it.

"He is quite a relaxed kind of guy, quite cool, but I'm sure he'd like to express himself better because his English isn't perfect. It will take time for him to learn, but it's definitely improved a lot."
