Giulianelli: Wenger takes control of Arsenal striker search; Why Mustafi's stalled; Ranieri turns to Paredes

After defeat in the first game of their title defence at Hull City, Leicester City know they need urgently to strengthen their roster.

Leicester must buy in order to improve the quality of a team that will have to compete in England and in Europe. In their first appearance of the season, the team didn't appear they'd be competitive with the top clubs like Manchester City or Chelsea.

Claudio Ranieri has decided to move for Leandro Paredes, of AS Roma. The Argentinian player is a real talent., someone who could give creativity and depth to a midfield that, during this transfer session, has lost the former leader N'Golo Kanté, passed to Chelsea.

The offer will be submitted in the next week: Roma will sit down to negotiate the deal after their Champions League qualifier against Porto. The Italian club plans on making a bid for the Spanish midfielder Borja Valero, now at Fiorentina, not satisfied by the transfers they've so far made.

WENGER MAKING PERSONAL CALLS FOR NEW STRIKER

Arsenal's situation is similar to Leicester's, in the sense that the club needs urgently to buy new players: a centre back and a striker were the most needed roles and still are.

The Shkodran Mustafi situation is becoming confused: the player has agreed personal terms with Arsenal now for many days, but the two clubs haven't found an agreement yet. The player has asked Valencia to be sold; the Spanish club now have increased their demand, asking for £30 million, while Arsenal were coming in at £23 million plus £3 million in bonuses. There's been no firm movement lately, only slow negotiations.

Even about the striker, nothing concrete yet.

Arsene Wenger has made lot of calls personally in the last days. There is still some chat about Antoine Griezmann, of Atletico Madrid, but I doubt it would be possible this late in the day.

The interest for Wilfried Bony, the Manchester City striker, is just a rumour - nothing more than this.
