Giulianelli: Mustafi slipping away from Arsenal; West Ham focus on Zaza

I think Arsenal supporters need someone to clarify the situation regarding the transfers involving their club over these last few days.

I was the first one to write about the interest for Shkodran Mustafi, of Valencia. I have reported many times about the progress or the stalling of negotiations.

What has happened over these last few days? Arsenal were very close to sealing the deal - as I wrote on Twitter. But it hasn't been closed yet.

As I reported, Arsenal's bid was €25 million plus €3 million in bonuses. But Valencia were delaying, hoping for other clubs to come in and compete. In the last few days, there's been zero contact to and from Valencia. Both clubs are stalling.

At this point, I'm not sure if and when the transfer will happen since it's dragged on so long.

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger is looking further afield. He is thinking of bringing in Rachid Ghezzal of Lyon late in the window.

FRUSTRATION FOR WEST HAM AND LIVERPOOL

On the other side of London, the injury of Andre Ayew is forcing West Ham to go again for the Juventus and Italian national team forward Simone Zaza. The Hammers will have to fight off competition from Wolfsburg.

Roma have in mind to take Leandro Paredes off the transfer market. They want to bet on a player who in this opening part of the season has shown great skill. They could only think about a loan transfer, but a definitive one surely not.

Leicester City will have to target another midfielder, as will Liverpool and AC Milan.
