Giroud happy with rare Chelsea appearance: I'll give everything

Olivier Giroud hopes to build on his Chelsea playing return last night.

The French World Cup winner made only his eighth appearance of the season on Monday night, once again coming off the bench, as Chelsea crashed 2-0 to Manchester United to send the chase for Champions League places wide open.

Giroud said: "I am a Chelsea player. Now I need to move on.

“I want to give everything for the team. My personal target is to play as much as I can so I can play in the Euros. That is massive for me.

“Now I am 100 per cent focused on Chelsea and their targets - I want to keep fighting and get back on the score sheet. Every single game is a big opportunity for me to show my desire to come back."

He added: "After two months without playing I felt very good, with a lot of energy and determination, and I scored a nice goal from a nice cross.

“I tried to stay behind the defender but I was offside by about half a foot. That is very frustrating because it could have changed the game."
