Borussia Monchengladbach star Matthias Ginter is not interested in joining Aston Villa.

The 28-year-old was approached by Villa boss Steven Gerrard to join the club for next season.

However, Football Insider states that Ginter has turned down Villa's approach.

He is setting his sights on a move to his ex-club Freiburg instead.

Ginter is out of contract in the summer, but is happy in Germany.

For his part, Gerrard will continue his search for new defenders, and he wants to revamp the club's current first-choice pairing of Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konza.
