Gilks happy to battle for Burnley place

Matt Gilks says he's happy to fight for a place in Burnley boss Sean Dyche's first team.

The former Blackpool goalkeeper moved to Turf Moor last week.

He told the club's website: "I know there's a strong goalkeeping pool here and Tom (Heaton) was absolutely fantastic last season.

"I'm surprised he didn't make the divisional team, but he's been a massive reason why Burnley are in the Premier League, so I know it's going to be tough.

"But I think in the Premier League you need competition for places and if I can keep the lads here on their toes and between us we help keep the club in this division, then that's what it's all about."
