Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs believes that Wayne Rooney could remain at Old Trafford this summer.

It is now widely expected that the striker will be leavingUnited this summer, with moves to Everton, the MLS or China being touted as possible destinations for the Red Devils' all-time leading goalscorer.

Despite all the rumors surrounding the future of Rooney though, United icon Ryan Giggs believes that the 31-year-old could well stay put at Old Trafford this summer but expects him to become a bit-part player under Jose Mourinho next season.

Giggs told Sky Sports: "Wayne is a proven goalscorer, give him a chance Wayne will score.

"It is whether he can put up with not being first choice or whether he can develop his game which I had to around the same age, not being certain to play every game, but playing 25-30 games and contributing.

"If Wayne can do that then I don't see why he can't still be at the club."
