Giggs defends Real Madrid attacker Bale: Flag row going on too long

Wales coach Ryan Giggs has defended Gareth Bale against angry Real Madrid fans.

Bale upset many of the Real support when he celebrated Wales' Euros qualification with the controversial flag: 'Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order.'.

The backleash is still being felt, though Giggs feels it's been overplayed.

He said, "I do not know if Gareth has anything to do with it, but I think it's gone far too long.

"It was a special night for Gareth. He returned to what was his second match in three days. He had not played much, so he was able to do so thanks to his physical condition and his professionalism."

Indeed, along with the flag celebration, there was also anger in Madrid that Bale managed to turn for Wales, despite missing much of the season so far due to injury.
